Why is the result not smaller?
Results depend on the source, format and content. Files already below the target are not regenerated. If a target cannot be met, the app reports it rather than claiming success.
How is ZIP different from compression?
Compression creates new images. ZIP packs the original files, including existing location metadata, and does not apply the compression metadata settings. Export your ZIP promptly: previous cache contents are removed when the ZIP workspace is initialized again.
Which images are supported?
Compression accepts JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, PNG and static WebP, but not animation, Live Photos or RAW. ZIP accepts system-recognized images including GIF, but not Live Photos. Very large images may be downscaled for processing.
Will my originals be deleted?
Compression never automatically deletes originals. Deletion requires you to remove app protection, save a copy to Photos, pass validation and confirm with iOS.
Why might a connection be needed?
The system may download selected iCloud photos or files from a cloud provider first. Image processing itself runs on your device.
